Sound of Music
I was privileged enough to attend this concert because my mid-term was preponed. The gracious faculty obliged by giving us extra dose of pain but in the end it was worth it. Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia needs no introduction and I am not going to waste the precious grad time in doing that. He mesmerized the audience for 1.5 hrs with his breathtaking performance on flute. He was accompanied on tabla by Yogesh ji, and on flute by a student. To set the mood he started with raga Madhubanti which I guess lasted for some 40 mins. After that, on audience request he played raga Mohan and raga Pahadi.
The power of music to move the soul is uncomparable. Even a fan of metal or R&B would have discovered a beat in this music, which more or less explains classical music's popularity among the common man. Also if played by a maestro it takes a life on it's own. For people who missed out on the show, can listen to raga Mohan and raga Pahadi here: Raga Mohan Raga Pahadi
